The Socioemotional Lab (SEL) at California State Polytechnic University Pomona, established in Spring 2021, focuses on research that examines the intersection of social and emotional learning, social justice, as well as the promotion of culturally responsive school-based mental health. The SEL Lab also values strength-based mentoring, professional development, as well as a scholar-activist approach. As such, all lab members receive ongoing mentoring, participate in professional development activities, and engage in community-based work.
